Not taking insurance gives us a lot of flexibility in our work together.
Privacy and confidentiality: Using insurance often requires a formal mental health diagnosis. The clients I work with often want to work on deeper issues than a standard mental health diagnosis would allow or do not meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis.
Flexibility in treatment: Insurance companies can dictate the number or frequency of your treatment sessions and often require sessions to end when you’re feeling better, which is just when I think you’re ready to start feeling more.
Focus on your goals: My work as a counselor is centered on helping you heal through depth and relationship, which isn’t based on meeting insurance criteria for treatment.
If needed, I can provide a “superbill” which is an invoice that shows your charges for therapy. You may be able to use this to receive reimbursement from your insurance company.

I often have a small number of slots available for reduced session rates based on your financial need. If you are interested in applying for one of these slots, we’ll have a conversation about your financial means and situation.
